The UK’s Supreme Court has ruled that “man”, “woman” and “sex” in the Equality Act 2010 refer to sex, not self-ID or paperwork (gender-recognition certificates). This agreed with our legal interpretation. We have published new guidance and are in the process of updating our publications to reflect the judgment. We are also working to provide answers to the questions we're hearing from supporters and the media. We will publish these as soon as possible.

Current regular donors – opt in to Gift Aid

Thank you for your regular donation! If you’re a UK resident, did you know that your donation can now do even more? Signing up for Gift Aid lets us unlock an extra 25% on top of your contribution, courtesy of the government. Opt in to Gift Aid now.

By choosing “Yes”, I agree I would like Sex Matters to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made since 1st July 2024 as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Sex Matters will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.
